Brother William Bernard is a native of Port Arthur, Texas. Educated in the public schools of the Port Arthur Independent School
District, he is a 1978 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. He earned a degree in Mathematics/Civil Engineering from the
University of Texas-Arlington. Upon graduation, Mr. Bernard embarked upon a 29-year career as an engineer with the Jones-Blair Corporation,
before joining the FedEx Corporation, retiring in 2015. He embarked upon a new career with the City of Dallas, where today he serves
as the City Safety Manager, overseeing the occupational, health and safety for citizens of Dallas.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Bernard led the Environmental team at Love Field Airport, overseeing various safety
and environmental concerns during the airport renovation project.
Fraternally, Brother Bernard is active in the Nu Pi Lambda Chapter, seated in Arlington, Texas. Having seen the light of Alpha
as a Spring-2005 initiate of the Nu Pi Lambda Chapter, he is today, TCAC Area 2 Director, Southwest Regional Sargent-at-Arms,
and is a member of the National Sargent-at Arms team. Prior to his current leadership roles, Brother Bernard has served as chapter
President, Vice President, and Parliamentarian for the Nu Pi Lambda Chapter. As well, in his quest to hold high the light of Alpha,
he has served on various committees on the District, Regional and National levels, as well, graduate advisor to the Zeta Chi Chapter,
established at his alma mater.
Brother Bernard counts to his honor, a marriage of 38 years to his wife, Marva. They have one daughter, Kelly Bernard Igwe,
who is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and son-n-law Eric Igwe a proud brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated.
